Demian-Maia-vs-Matt-Brown-Added-to-May-14-UFC-Fight-Night-in-Brazil

World-ranked welterweights Demian Maia and Matt Brown will collide in May when Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its return to Brazil.

The 170-pound matchup was announced on Monday by Giovani Decker, general manager of UFC Brazil.

The company has not confirmed a city or venue for the May 14 card but has annouced that the show will take place in Brazil with a five-round middleweight main event featuring Ronaldo Souza and Vitor Belfort.

Maia, 38, will enter the pivotal matchup on a four-fight winning streak, looking to close in on a UFC title shot. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt was last in action on Dec. 12, when he put on a grappling clinic to shut out Gunnar Nelson in a unanimous decision at UFC 194.

Brown, 35, snapped a two-fight losing streak in his last outing, a July meeting with Tim Means which “The Immortal” via first-round guillotine choke. An injury forced the Ohio native to withdraw from a scheduled November bout against Kelvin Gastelum.
