CUTTING WEIGHT AND DEHYDRATION SUMMIT: HOSTED BY THE CALIFORNIA STATE ATHLETIC COMMISSION

From California State Athletic Commission:
In the world of combat sports, the practice of cutting weight and dehydrating is not a new phenomenon.  There is a right and wrong way to cut weight.  With proper training, nutrition and patience, a competitor can reduce their body weight in a healthy manner without the potentially catastrophic results of excessive and rapid weight loss.
The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), in its effort to champion the pursuit for solutions to reduce and ultimately eliminate the hazardous dehydration/re-hydration cycle, will host a Cutting Weight and Dehydration Summit on Thursday, December 17, in Los Angeles, CA.
The following regulators and representatives from across the nation are expected to attend: Association of Ringside Physicians, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Bellator MMA, Invicta Fighting Championships (IFC), World Series of Fighting (WSF), Resurrection Fighting Alliance and various members of the combative sports industry.
Though progress has been made, it is the hope of the Commission that with collective input during this summit, more will be accomplished to further ensure the safety of those competing.

The 2016 European is right around the corner and should not wait too long to register for the event.
The final deadline for signing up is January 11 and the event is scheduled January 20*-24.
Remember that the European is one of the few 4-star events in the IBJJF calendar, which means you will add valorous points if you are a black belt competing in the adult division and needs 50 pts to qualify for the 2016 Worlds.
This year’s edition will be the first one in a long time at a new venue in the city of Lisbon, Portugal.

BJJ CHAMPION RODOLFO VIEIRA TO JOIN ATT, PURSUE MMA

BJJ World Championships gold medalist Rodolfo Vieira has announced that he will join American Top Team and pursue an MMA career. The Brazilian made the announcement via an interview with Tatame.
Vieira told the magazine, “I will go to Florida and join American Top Team full time. I have only heard good things about Dan Lambert and ATT. The reason why I chose ATT is because I know I will have all the support and tools I need to accomplish my goals. I’m very excited to begin this new chapter of my life. I will dedicate all my time and energy to be an MMA champion too.”
At the 2015 ADCC tournament, Vieira defeated Adam Sachnoff, Cassio Francis, Alexandre Ribeiro and Felipe Pena to claim the 99kg gold medal. He returned for the absolute bracket where he defeated former UFC champion Benson Henderson and Rafael Lovato Jr. Vieira fell to Joao Rocha in the seimfinals.
Over the course of his grappling career, Vieira has also picked up victories over the likes of Andre Galvao, Alan Belcher, Braulio Estima and Keenan Cornelius.
